For the Sea, For Us
The Sea Trail (Shvil-HaYam) is a continuous 240 km hiking route along Israel’s Mediterranean coastline, stretching from Rosh HaNikra to Zikim. This unique environmental , social, educational, and tourism initiative offers hikers with a rich experience that blends nature, history, and culture, while providing direct encounters with the diverse ecosystems along Israel’s shores. Each stop along the trail reveals a specific story, diverse experiences, and ever-changing coastal landscapes, while creating an innovative platform for eco-educational tourism. The trail also fosters collaboration among local communities, authorities and educational institutions, raising awareness about preserving Israel’s natural and historical resources.
To advance these goals, the Shvil-HaYam educational program offers structured classroom lesson plans alongside ideas for creative field projects. Through hands-on learning experiences, students gain a deeper understanding of the connection between people and the environment. This special program offers a unique opportunity to turn education into an engaging and meaningful adventure.
The program was developed with the support of the Mediterranean Sea Trails Research Center at the University of Haifa and the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection (2025).
